DESCRIPCIÓN DEL VOLUNTARIADO
Is to bring two different personalities (volunteers) – one theatre and one video person- to small town called Gulbene (around 9 000 inhabitants) and to crate for them safe and motivated space for their artistic and creative activities together with local youngsters. Main task for the volunteers will be to organize weekly (at least once in a week) a workshop for local youngsters based on their skill – theatre or video.
Moreover there will be 5 activities during the project when volunteers will be asked to take part – to plan, to prepare and to implement the activities together with youth center workers and youngsters.
Those activities are going to be:
1) European day (May);
2) Youth day (July)
3) Youth center “Baze” birth day (September)
4) Award ceremony for the youngsters
5) Closing party of the project
Volunteers’ initiative and new ideas will be welcomed; therefore there could be more tasks and activities for them if they will want so.
SOBRE LA ENTIDAD – YOUTH CENTER «BAZE»
Youth center “Baze” is an institition of Gulbene District municipality. Idea of base (latvian – bāze) is to be a place for youngsters, where they can come and feel like at their own place.
Aims of organisation is to give support for local youngsters to realize their initiatives in local level and to enable young people to make informed decisions, to help them to avail of opportunities open to them, to realise their full potential and actively participate in community life.
Also – organisation is coordinator of youth issues in Gulbene – by spreading youth information to organisations, foundations, youth groups.
Non-formal education, volunteering and youth iniciative are 3 priorities of the YC “BĀZE”.
Our tasks are to develop and to realize youth initiative projects, events, activities, popularize the non-formal education and voluntary work, to intercommunicate with Gulbene municipality in the sphere of youth issues.
Since 2006 – when organisation was established – there have been realized different „Youth in Action” projects in Gulbene – Youth exchanges, EVS, initiatives, trainings and seminars. More than 60 projects were partnering projects where YC „Baze” took part – exchanges, EVS, Trainings, Seminars ect.
Today varieties of regular activities, which are happening in the youth centre, are based on different arts (music, dancing, and theatre) and media (video, photo). There are facilities for workshops and activities based on previous mentioned arts and media in the youth center, therefore we are searching for motivated and interested volunteer experienced in the theater field, who would like to work with youngsters in age 15- 21, to run workshops, activities based on volunteer’s and youngsters’ interests.
