SOBRE EL PROYECTO
In this project that we are developing together with the Collegio San Domenico Savio of Messina ,the Art Gallery of Messina and the Municipal Library , the volunteers will be engaged, for the most of the time, with children aged between 3 and 10 years. The San Domenico Savio is a Catholic school run by priests and nuns, which is why it is important for the volunteers to be Catholic or at least respect it. It is preferable that the volunteers have experience with children but it is not compulsory.
Most of the activities will be concentrated in the Collegio San Domenico Savio where the volunteers, together with the teaching staff and other volunteers from the national civil service, will be able to: take part in the activities of animation for children, help children with learning difficulties, help in understanding the their mother tongue, they will go to help people with physical and mental handicaps (together with social workers), they will help the psychologists in the meetings with the prisoners for their rehabilitation (in these last two cases, they will meet adults).
● In the art gallery, the volunteers will tell the story of the works of art and their meaning to the little ones, they will create activities to teach the local art history to children.
● In the municipal library the volunteers, together with the staff, will help the children with invitations to read, they will create dramatizations of readings already proposed. they will create activities aimed at encouraging children to read.
ACCOMMODATION AND LOCAL TRANSPORT
In shared flat with other students. Possibility to cook. You will receive a monthly bus ticket
ECONOMIC CONDITIONS
You will receive a monthly allowance for food and monthly pocket money.
HOW TO APPLY
We will study carefully all applications and selected candidates will be invited for a Skype interview. The selection of volunteers will take place in the upcoming weeks.
For the selection of the volunteers we will need:
– Europass CV with picture (made in the last month) with Skype username included.
– Motivational letter , we ask all candidates to send a specific letter of motivation – why they want to volunteer with us rather than just a general ESC one. The volunteer is chosen according to his/her motivation and interest in the project and the activities. It will be paid special attention to cover letters.
